in the back and in the front.
sometimes i go to a local food pantry. they have an abundance of sandwich bread, pastas and bizarrely processed pre-packaged foods. i have issues with the pre-grating of carrots that are hard to communicate (really, you dont have enough time to grate a carrot?) but it could be worse.
later we swung by our standby frozen-foods dumpster, and found approximately 70 pounds of this stuff:
its essentially bomb-proof cafeteria slop with no expiration date, but i brought it home so that i can donate it to the food bank. and in case you didn't catch the description, here's a detail:
"with lumps." so here is my attempt to explain myself: i understand the need for disaster-proof foods and they certainly have their place, but when food that is marketed for household consumption is hyper-processed and then styled to 'imitate' homemade rustic comfort food, it bothers me. potatoes and butter are affordable and nourishing foods, easily prepared. these 'country style potato pearls' contain numerous additives, preservatives and artificial salts and fats. i am not above eating this processed, pre-packaged convenience shit if it is all that is available, i just find its abundance unnecessary.
however, our hoity-toity opinion of processed foods did not prevent aaron and i from making immature jokes about lumps during the ride home.
